The Commercial Appraisal department is responsible for annual discovery and recording of new commercial property. This includes checking vacant lots for new commercial construction and checking existing commercial structures for physical changes. The Commercial Department is also responsible for analyzing and interpreting market sales, along with cost and income data, in order to update values each year to all commercial properties in the county. New properties are inspected and physically measured each year via on-site visits. Changes to existing properties as a result of new additions, demolitions, or renovations are also accomplished through on-site visits and with the use of high resolution aerial photography and interactive GIS software.
